What a brilliant bunch of people, every time I've worked with the Waterways Action Squad everyone's been so enthusiastic and keen to get involved, even in the very worst of weather! Well done to everyone for their efforts, the waterways are becoming a much more vibrant and exciting place to visit and work thanks to your efforts!

I've learnt lots from working with the WAS team and meeting the volunteers who are the biggest part of them.

Thank you to all those who've given their time, I know that you've made a big impact on the waterways.

Thanks all

Through volunteering for the Waterways Trust, I got to participate in so many great events, doing something I really enjoy.

I spent a lot of time photographing all the brilliant things that volunteers were doing. I think the Rolt Centenary events were some of my favourite to shoot, it was such a fantastic day, so thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to photograph there :)

From the local perspective of the Inland Waterways Association, I can assure you that we view the Waterways Action Squad as a fantastic concept and an excellent way of getting young people involved in the inland waterways generally.

The various projects that the team has undertaken have been innovative and also provided real value for money. However, there is much more to be done and we sincerely hope that the funding can be found to continue - and expand - the projects into other areas as well as our own. We look forward to working with the team in the future and having worked with some of the young people you attract, I know that they really appreciate the opportunities offered as well.

It has been inspiring to see so many young people willing and eager to be involved in the management and promotion of the waterways. The WAS has provided a way of getting involved that never previously existed. It is great to read the positive comments of the volunteers. Success all round!!!

I have really enjoyed meeting the young volunteers and seeing the valuable contribution they make both to the environment of the waterways but also to other people. Their comments on their experiences are very encouraging and I hope many more people will join and have fun gaining skills and confidence, while helping others.

As a volunteer myself (sadly a bit older than most WAS members) I really appreciate that so many people have made an effort to volunteer and by doing so have made such a super impact. I work at the National Waterways Museum and see the site full of energetic young people who are making a real difference.
Whether it is the fantastic mural seen from the canal as boats approach the museum, the hedge laying alongside the canal that is a magnificent job, the music's been great as well or simply the hours spent working in the office and helping to recruit others. To see young people caring about things enough to give their time is an inspiration to us all. WAS and the young people who work with the team has done a great job. I sincerely wish that a way is found to contine this deserving project. What I really like most when i read the comments is to see how many people use the word 'enjoy'. Volunteering is enjoyable, a win win for everyone. Thanks for the chance to comment.

I've recently started volunteering at the Waterways Action Squad as part of my university degree. I wanted to join because of its emphasis on young volunteers and the many possibilities available that volunteers have to contribute to the conservation of canals and rivers.

Since I've only really worked in the office, my experience of the project as a whole is limited but what I've learnt here is that the team really do put us volunteers first, and understand our needs. They are constantly looking for ideas and projects which allow young people to gain experience, build on talents and most of all have fun.

They also also provide free tea and biscuits which I certainly won't complain about!

I did voluntary work with the Waterways Action Squad in 2009, helping with marketing activities for the group which I hoped would help me gain experience while in University. The team were incredibly helpful and gave me the freedom to try a variety of different areas of marketing which has been invaluable to me in my job search, as I found work in the marketing department of Moneysupermarket.com.

Not only did my work with the Waterways action squad help me find work, it was also an incredibly rewarding experience and I met some remarkable people. I would recommend it to anyone.
